terrific site! I am looking for help for my book on the East River 1840-1885. Do you have any suggerstions about where to look or who to ask?

Greater Astoria Historic Society did a great East River book a few years back. I’d also recommend certain chapters from Robert A. Caro’s “Power Broker” and of course – “Gotham.” Jackson’s “Encyclopedia of New York City” is also handy, and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archives are online and a Google search away.
