  2. A tunnel of light in the darkness looks more like an afterlife metaphor to me. Or maybe that’s just how the caretaker of the tombs (custodia sepulchrum), one who is descended from the folks who dug and maintained the catacombs in a far away land would be by nature inclined to view it. Always on the lookout for new customers.
